A Sunday shop for a smaller appetite

Buying less, and buying things that keep, cuts down on food going off in the fridge.

Shopping for a smaller appetite mostly means shopping for things that last. Oats, tins of fish and beans, frozen vegetables and eggs keep well and cover plenty of meals.

Fresh fruit and salad go off fastest, so buy smaller amounts twice a week rather than one big bag on Sunday. Frozen berries and frozen spinach are handy because you only take out what you need.

Make the list from what's already in the freezer. If there are four portions of stew in there, that's four dinners you don't need to buy for.
